Howell is centrally located within Livingston County and was once known as Livingston Center. It was platted in 1835 by a group of settlers from Detroit and was later incorporated in 1863.
Howell schools consist of 7 elementary schools, 2 middle schools and 1 high school.

One of Howell’s most popular attractions is the Tanger Outlet Mall with over 75 brand name outlets. This shopping center is easily accessible from exit 133, Highland Road exit on the west end of Howell.
