Howell is centrally located within Livingston County and was once known as Livingston Center. It was platted in 1835 by a group of settlers from Detroit and was later incorporated in 1863.

Howell schools consist of 7 elementary schools, 2 middle schools and 1 high school.

Howell is known for several popular festivals: Fantasy of Lights, Melon Festival and Michigan Challenge Balloon Festival. Be sure to check them out as they draw crowds from many miles away!

Relax and enjoy the natural beauty of Howell City Park. Whether you want to take a walk, play on the swings, picnic with family or friends, or enjoy the fun and sun in the water at the Beach at Howell City Park! Within the park, Howell City boat launch is open to the public May 1 – October 31.

For seniors, Howell offers The Howell Senior Center located in the Bennett Recreation Center, just west of downtown Howell. The senior center offers social, recreational and educational opportunities for residents 50 and older. Don’t miss out on any of these fun activities!

One of Howell’s most popular attractions is the Tanger Outlet Mall with over 75 brand name outlets. This shopping center is easily accessible from exit 133, Highland Road exit on the west end of Howell.
