Milford

Settlers Elizur and Stanley Ruggles established Milford Township when they built the first sawmill along the Huron River in 1831. In 1832 Milford Township was established and in 1869 the Village of Milford was incorporated. The population of Milford is approximately 6,280 people.

The Village of Milford is part of the award winning Huron Valley School District and there is one elementary and one middle school within the Village.

Milford has a thriving downtown shopping district with many shops, restaurants and businesses. Throughout the year Milford hosts many events, including the very popular Ladies’ Night Out which is held in October and then again in April. There is a Thursday afternoon Farmer’s Market that runs May through October and the Milford Memories Summer Festival that occurs the second full weekend of August.

Milford has six parks within the Village, including Kensington Metro Park that is a beautiful 4,481-acre park just 10 minutes from downtown Milford. The park features countless activities, including an 18-hole regulation golf course, Nature Center, Picnic areas, playgrounds, beaches, boat launches, an 8.5-mile bike trail, canoeing and more.

Milford is a family oriented city boasting a state-of-the-art YMCA, an excellent school system, hometown parades, parks, a new library, daycare facilities and various community organizations. Milford is a beautiful place to call home!
