Novi

Novi is a great place to call home! Established as a city in 1969, Novi now has more than 55,000 residents. Centrally located in Oakland County, Novi is just a 25-minute drive to downtown Detroit and approximately 29 miles to Ann Arbor.

It is commonly believed that Novi got its name from being the 6th tollgate (No. VI) on the Grand River toll road, but the township was named Novi in 1832 and the toll road was not constructed until the 1850’s.

The city of Novi is part of four different award winning school systems, South Lyon, Northville, Novi and Walled Lake. Novi also has several private schools.

If you love to shop, you’ll love Novi! Twelve Oaks mall features four major department stores, 180 specialty stores and a variety of restaurants. The Novi Town center, Main Street shopping area, and the Twelve Mile Road Crossing at Fountain Walk also boast more shopping, dining and entertainment options.

Novi has a state-of-the art library, as well as numerous parks and community events. Novi’s Older Adult Services/Meadowbrook Activities Center offers hundreds of monthly programs designed specifically for residents who are 55 and older. Programs include fitness, computer classes, Meals on Wheels, and various support groups.

Novi has it all, award winning schools, easy access to freeways, shopping, dining, awesome community services and more!
