The lovely Village of Pinckney is located within Putnam Township, in southern Livingston County. Pinckney was founded in 1827 and incorporated into a Village in 1883. Pinckney and Putnam Township are home to beautiful rolling hills and two lake chains. There are several park and recreational areas including Gregory State Game Area, the University of Michigan Biological Research Station and the Pinckney Recreation Area. Sports enthusiasts will enjoy the many hiking and cross country trails, as well as swimming.
Pinckney is a small community of approximately 2,500 residents. The quaint downtown area is home to several shops, restaurants, businesses and its’ new library.
Pinckney is part of the Pinckney-Lakeland-Hamburg-Hell Division of the Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce. Many events are put on during the year by the Chamber, such as Art in the Park, Movies in the Park, and the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Pinckney has an award winning school system, with seven schools in the district.
